Over the last 7 years in the industry, I have seen first hand why you shouldn't hold back on having your dream professional photographer at your wedding. It's no secret that with the cost of living rising many couples are looking to keep wedding costs at a minimum. However having worked with many brides and industry experts, I know there are better ways for you to stick to your budget without compromising on the memories you will look back on from your wedding day. At the end of the day- when the cake's been eaten, the dress is stained and the drinks been drank... if you have chosen the right photographer the images will tell your story of your dream day for the rest of your lives. How often do you hear of people who had a ‘budget friendly photographer’ or ‘a friends uncle’ to photograph their wedding that are then massively underwhelmed when they see the final results. Trust me I wish I didn’t hear this as much as I do. Think about it like this- you have just spent upwards of £15000 on the venue, wedding cake, drink, dresses and suits to make sure that your day is picture perfect. You then decide to save money on your photographer by going for someone without insurance or a reputable business or ‘isn’t quite what you wanted but they’ll do’. Best case scenario- You hit the jackpot! They turn up and capture some images which you love, they might not be good enough to blow up and frame but you have some beautiful memories to look back on. Worst case scenario-they don’t turn up on your day or their kit breaks and they don't have any back ups … believe me this happens more than anyone could ever imagine and you are then left with no professional photographs from your special day. This means you could have just spent £15,000 making sure you had a perfect day but are left without the memories to look back on and show generations to come. At weddings, the photographer actually impacts your day more than you probably anticipate. From the Bride and grooms perspective, the photographer is the person you are around almost the entire day from when you get ready to your first dance. Particularly for the bride, as a woman myself- I fully believe it is essential that you MUST feel safe and comfortable around your photographer. You are normally getting ready in loungewear and lots of brides would love to have images of them getting into their dress too, you will not feel comfortable enough to do this if you choose the wrong photographer for you. For your guests, the photographer can make the day flow and be enjoyable- a good photographer will smash out those group shots making them fun and relaxed, whilst ensuring they have captured the perfect images without taking up too much of your time on the day. Personally, we normally allocate a maximum of half an hour for group photos and then the rest of the day is your own and we will capture those candid shots no one knows are being taken, that you all love. Equally, the wrong photographer can drag out the photographs and not leave the guests time to socialise, relax and enjoy themselves. At the end of the day- when the cake's been eaten, the dress is stained and the drinks been drank... if you have chosen the right photographer the images will tell your story of your dream day for the rest of your lives. I am proud to say that I make sure that I am the right photographer for all my clients. If I feel we aren't a good fit and there may be someone better suited for you I will 100% recommend another photographer for you.
