This family photoshoot was a true celebration of farm life, childhood, and the joy of growing up surrounded by animals and open space. I spent the day with Emma, her husband James, and their two boys—Harvey (5) and Archie (2)—on James’ family farm in Over Stowey, right at the start of the beautiful Quantock Hills.
James works full-time on the family farm, which is home to sheep, beef cattle, and arable land. Farming isn’t just a job—it’s a way of life. Emma also plays a huge role, working part-time and helping out on the farm wherever she can. Together, they’re building a life firmly rooted in the land, and it was such a privilege to capture that for them.
On the day of the shoot, we embraced everything that makes farm life so special. We spent time with the cows and sheep, capturing natural moments as the boys watched, followed, and confidently moved around the farm like they’d been doing it their whole lives—which, of course, they have.
Harvey and Archie were so well behaved from start to finish. Harvey completely shone in his role as the best big brother—kind, patient, and proudly showing Archie the ropes. Whether they were climbing on tractors or driving around the farm in their mini gator, their bond was lovely to watch and even better to photograph.
The shoot was relaxed and full of movement, letting the boys explore rather than asking them to stand still. Those are always the moments that matter most—the laughter, the concentration, the little glances between brothers, and the pure joy of being outdoors.
At their viewing session, Emma and James absolutely loved their images. They chose to invest in a stunning 11-in-1 frame, alongside their full set of digital images—photographs they can truly treasure forever and look back on as the boys grow.
This session wasn’t about perfectly posed photos; it was about telling their story. A hardworking farming family, raising two boys in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by animals, machinery, and miles of fresh air.
The kind of childhood memories that last a lifetime—and the kind I feel incredibly lucky to capture.
