There’s something incredibly special about photographing horses in the place they call home — where every detail, every look, and every moment feels effortlessly authentic. For Jane, this couldn’t have been truer. Her session with her two beautiful horses, Stix and Hamilton, was filled with laughter, golden autumn light, and that unmistakable bond only a lifelong horse lover knows.

Set against the backdrop of Jane’s stunning home and garden, the photoshoot unfolded in the most natural way. Jane’s eye for colour shone through in her outfit choices — from a sunshine-yellow jacket that glowed warmly beside Hamilton’s gleaming chestnut coat, to the striking burnt-orange wrap that paired so perfectly with Stix’s elegant grey. The result? A collection of portraits that radiate warmth, personality, and timeless style.

Stix, now a true OAP (Old Age Pony!), was an absolute star. Age may have slowed him down a touch, but you’d never know it — he looked magnificent and clearly enjoyed being centre stage. There’s a quiet dignity about him, the kind that only comes with years of partnership and mutual trust. Hamilton, meanwhile, stood tall and proud beside Jane, his rich colouring and gentle nature capturing hearts instantly.

As the light softened and the afternoon drifted by, Jane’s connection with both horses was undeniable — gentle touches, knowing smiles, and that deep affection that speaks louder than words.

This session was the perfect reminder that equine photography isn’t just about the horses — it’s about the stories they tell, the years shared, and the joy they bring to those who love them.

Jane and her husband Brian loved the experience so much they've booked me for Brians daughter's wedding in August next year. I can't wait to catch up with them both again at their beautiful property.

Jane's kind words:

'I was thrilled to win your Dunster Show competition this year. I don’t think I have even won anything quite so special. Your photos are amazing, and it was clear from the start that you’re one talented lady. Your knowledge of horses, and how to make them look their best was evident. What seemed like an impossible task of section was made so much easier by your brilliant organization skills, not to mention your patience as we widdled so many down to the top 10.  '
