LIFE through THE BLOG

Location, Location, Location...

28/5/2020

A beautiful background always lends itself to a stunning and memorable photograph. As a community we are very fortunate to live in an area with such a range of landscapes from breathtaking views and landmarks to our hidden woodlands and beaches. I like to give you a few options for the location of your photo shoot which we discuss in your pre-shoot consultation. For this weeks blog I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite locations I have been to so far and why these work so well!

Wooded areas's are definitely a firm favourite of mine, they make for a beautiful backdrop and are very kind to eyes and skin tones on bright sunny days. They also give you a lovely sense of seasons and are beautiful all times of the year. My favourite has to be autumn and Summer though! If you are lucky enough to have wooded area's or pathways within your yard or close by they are the perfect place for your photo shoot and give you a very natural and relaxed vibe.

Another of both mine and some of my clients favourites has to be a cheeky trip to the seaside! Although not for everyone,  those of you who ride on the beach regularly and who's horses are used to the sea and the sounds, dogs and people that come with it. It is a beautiful location and of course you have the chance to jump on and go for a gallop whilst you are there at the end (it would be rude not to really)!  The beach gives you a more minimalist style and clean feel with gorgeous creams and blue tones.

Finally, your yard or even garden is often a beautiful location for a photo shoot. It may not seem like it but with paddocks, tree's, flowers, hedges and even your stable can often make for a lovely background! Fields with long grasses and wild flowers are absolutely stunning and give a very summery, rustic feel to your photo shoot. If you have a more anxious or lively horse, being in your yard is very homely and comforting for them which always helps them to relax too!

I always suggest that you will know what location is right for you and your horse, depending on his/her behaviours and the style that you feel suits you most. However, I am always here to help guide you and help you to make this decision, as always if you have any questions just ask!

Hey or should I say hay!

I'm Sophie,  rural life photographer and lover of all things country and horses.
Creating beautiful photographs of you and the four legged love of your life is my absolute passion. As a keen horsewoman from the age of 3 years old, I can hand on heart say that horses are my favourite thing on this earth, closely followed by my love of capturing the connection between animals and their humans . I adore being out in the fresh air, enjoying all things country from tweed and fashion to long walks and views. Tell me more...
